Top 16 for Barnett

Rebecca Barnett has pulled off another fantastic win overnight to reach the last 16 at the Junior World Championships

Up against the Australian number one Jessica Turnbull - seeded 9-16 and ranked 90 in the world - Rebecca was perhaps the underdog with the bookies.  However she used all of her skill and guile to pull off an 11-6, 12-10, 11-9 upset in 32 minutes, catapulting her into the round of 1Becky Barnett6.

Her next assignment was an even tougher one - second seed Nouran Gohar of Egypt.  This proved a bridge too far even for the overachieving Barnett, who went down 11-3, 11-2, 11-3.

In the day's other matches, there were close losses for all three of Barnett's compatriots.

Hayley Hughes was beaten by Australian Grace McErvale 11-5, 5-11, 7-11, 11-8, 11-7.

Ellie Epke went down to Lea van der Zwalman 11-8, 9-11, 11-8, 6-11, 11-8 in a 57 minute tussle - her second long match in as many days.

Finally, Abbie Palmer was beaten 11-6, 11-8, 7-11, 11-8 by Malaysia's Sue Ann Wong.

Barnett's loss puts her out of the tournament, while Epke, Hughes and Palmer all have further plate matches tonight (NZT).  Check out the plate draws here.
