South Island Age Group Finalists Found

Emily Flett has won the u17 girls division at the South Island Junior Champs, with the other titles to be decided today.

In the first final of the tournament, Squash City Invercargill's Emily Flett beat her clubmate Katie Fairweather 15-12 15-11 15-8 to take the under 17 girls title.  Flett will also line up tomorrow with a chance of adding the under 19 title to her collection when she takes on top seed Sophie O'Connell of Waimea.

Elsewhere, the event has gone largely to seeding, as expected.  Chris van der Salm will line up against Jackson Beresford for the under 19 boys title, seeking to become the first man in history to win both senior and junior South Island titles in the same year.2012 NIAG winners

In the under 17 boys division, the two top-seeded Northlanders Max Trimble and Sam Sayes will do battle for the title.

In one of the upsets of the tournament, sixth seed Caelum Betteridge has won through to the final of the under 13 boys division.  He will take on top seed Temwa Chileshe in the final later today.

U15 Girls – Round robin between Ruby Turnbull, Zoe Dykzeul, and Kiriana Andrew

U13 Boys – Temwa Chileshe vs Caelum Betteridge

U13 Girls – Anna O’Connor vs Anna Skerrett

U11 Boys – Joe Smythe vs Remi Young

U11 Girls – Alani Dalryple-Mortleman vs Aria Monaghan
