Commanding win for King

A crushing victory for Joelle King in the second round of the prestigious British Open Squash Championships.

The world number six has proven far too good for Hong Kong's Annie Au, winning 11-5, 11-7, 11-5 in just 27 minutes.  It was a commanding performance from King, who took control of the front of the court with some powerful hitting into the back corners.

The sixth seeded Kiwi says that was her game plan from the outset.2012 YOWS Girls Bid support

"Today I came prepared, and I thought it was going to be colder than it actually was! Annie is lethal with her short game, so I kept her out of her attacking position, and made my lead early."

King's reward is a showdown with world number one Nicol David in the quarterfinals. David earned her place in the last eight with an 11-2, 14-12, 11-2 victory over England's Sarah Kippax.
