Craig Shows her Class at South Island Champs

Megan Craig has been the star of the show on day two of the South Island Squash Championships in Nelson.

The world number 52 has cruised into the final of the Women's Open, racking up a straight games victory over Julie Gillaly in the quarterfinals before repeating the dose against fourth seed Emma Sim in the semis.  She will face second seed Kerry Wickett in the final tomorrow.Megan Craig July 2011

However, not content with making light work of the women's draw, Craig also came within a whisker of making the semifinals of the men's.  The 20 year old bounced back from two games down to take second seed Chris van der Salm into a fifth game decider, before finally succumbing 14-12 11-7, 7-11, 7-11, 11-5.  Van der Salm also downed third seed Shane Johnston in five, to set up a showdown with top seed Shaun Madden in the final.  Like Craig, Madden has made light work of his challenge so far, winning his first three matches in straight games.
