Amendment to Choice of Ball Policy
15 Mar 2013Please be aware of the following change to Squash NZ policy - also available on the SNZ Policies/Recommendations page.
Following robust discussion at the 2012 Annual General Meeting of Squash New Zealand, feedback was sought from districts on several small changes to playing policies. These included a proposed change to the 'Choice of ball' policy. The following change received widespread support and is now the official Squash New Zealand recommendation:
Choice of Ball
Old Policy:
Where a B grade player and a C1 (or lower) graded player meet in competition play, the lower graded player has the choice of which ball is used.
New Policy:
Where a B grade player and a C1 (or lower) graded player meet in competition play, the higher graded player shall have the choice of which ball is used.
Rationale:
In all other areas of play the higher graded/seeded player receives the advantage, and ball selection should be consistent with this.
