Women's Team Blogs from Nimes

The New Zealand women's team has some news for us from the World Championships in Nimes.

Day 1- Saturday 10th November

With all of our team having arrived at various times in Nimes yesterday, we met for an early breakfast at 8.00 to share stories of how the journeys had been.World Womens Team champs logo

Our first practice hit was scheduled to be on one of the thre glass courts for just 30 minutes. However, good news greeted us when we walked into the 'Parnasse Centre'- two of the three brand new glass courts were fully assembled and we are able to get a good one hour hit. Our four players felt at home straight away on the court and looked lively, confident and sharp.

The team went for lunch together before having our first team meeting.

The afternoon session was at the squash club on normal courts which is where we will play Japan in our first match. A short, sharp session to finish the day before heading for an early dinner and bed.

Day 2 - Sunday 11th November

For the second day running, the Kiwis were first to practice on the impressive showpiece glass court. Because we arrived at 9.30 for a 10.00 start, this enabled us to get a good one hour 20 minutes of quality practice and for the players to get used to the court.

The team went for lunch to discuss our tactics and team selections for tomorrows matches. Our line up will be Joelle, Jackie and Amanda against Japan in the morning, and Joelle, Jackie and Kylie against USA on the glass court in the evening.

The opening ceremony took place in the evening which consisted of a flag parade, speeches and a buffet. The players decided to head for something a little more substantial ahead of a busy day of matches tomorrow.
