King Conquers Au Again

Joelle King's purple patch has continued on the WSA Women's World Squash Tour.

7th seeded Joelle King is through to the semifinals of the China Open in Shanghai, after an 11-4, 11-6, 8-11, 11-9 quarterfinal upset of third seed Annie Au that took just over an hour.  It is the second time King has beaten the world number six this month.
There were some nervous moments for the 24-year-old Kiwi, who led 10-5 in the fourth at one stage.  King admits she started feeling the pinch as Au fought back.
"I played (world number one) Nicol David recently in the US Open and I was 6-0 up and lost, so that's what was going through my mind at 10-5. I was thinking surely I can't lose again from five points up, but sure enough Annie is a class player and she kept coming back at me.  I'm just glad it didn't go to a tie break."
King will now face English fifth seed Alison Waters in the semis.  Waters earned her place in the last four with a grueling 78-minute, five game victory over top seed Raneem El Weleily from Egypt.
