King Claims Title in Macau

Joelle King has beaten Omneya Abdel Kawy to claim the sixth title of her WSA career.

The top seed has won the Macau Open, although she didn't have things all her own way in the final.  King, ranked 12th in the world, looked headed for a routine victory over Omneya Abdel Kawy in the title decider, after winning the first two games with relative ease.  But the eighth seeded Egyptian, who had already accounted for two higher seeds in previous rounds, fought back superbly to take the next two games and force the match to a deciding fifth.

King reasserted herself in the final game though and squeezed out an 11-5, 11-1, 9-11, 6-11, 11-6 victory.
The 24-year-old Kiwi now heads to Shanghai, where she is the 7th seed in the China Open this weekend.
