Coll goes close against Williams

Top seeds given a run for their money in Christchurch

The top two seeds will square off in the final of the Doubledot Media Christchurch Boys High School Open.

Australian Mike Corren and New Zealand's Evan Williams are through to the title decider, although both were forced to fight hard to win their semifinals.
Corren took 40 minutes to topple unseeded Kiwi Joseph Watts, recovering from a third game scare to win 11-4, 12-10, 5-11, 11-8.
Williams was given an even bigger scare by third seed Paul Coll.  Coll, a former Christchurch Boy's High student, celebrated his return to his old stomping ground with a fantastic performance as he pushed Williams to four close games.  The two Kiwis traded blows for 60 minutes, before Williams finally prevailed 11-7, 11-9, 8-11, 12-10.
Corren and Williams have met three times previously on the PSA World Squash tour, with the Australian holding a 3-1 advantage.  However, Williams won their last encounter in five at the Central Open earlier this year.
