Lindsay and Landers-Murphy Land Main Draw Spots

Kylie Lindsay and Amanda Landers-Murphy are safely through to the main draw at the Australian Open.

New Zealand's Kylie Lindsay and Amanda Landers-Murphy are safely through to the main draw at the Australian Squash Open in Canberra.

Lindsay cruised through the final round of women's qualifying, downing Australian Jessica Turnbull 11-5, 11-4, 11-6 in just 23 minutes.  The world number 44 will now face 12th seeded Australian Donna Urquhart in the opening round tomorrow.  Landers-Murphy had to work a lot harder to earn her spot in the round of 32, battling to an 11-7, 4-11, 7-11, 11-6, 11-5 win over Hong Kong's Tong Tsz-Wing.  Her reward is a first round clash with French 6th seed Camille Serme.

Fellow Kiwi Megan Craig failed to advance beyond qualifying, going down 14-12, 12-10, 11-4 to India's Joshna Chinappa.

Meanwhile, Campbell Grayson has made an early exit from the men's main draw, losing his first round match 11-3, 2-11, 11-7, 11-7 to 49th ranked Egyptian Omar Abdel Aziz. 

Fellow Kiwi and recent Manawatu Classic winner Kashif Shuja has also perished, at the hands of the top seed, and world number 4, Ramy Ashour.  Shuja was beaten in straight sets 11-6, 11-6, 11-6.
