Monday at the Masters
24 Jul 2012Results from Monday's Matches at the World Masters Championships are now available.
Smooth sailing for New Zealand's top title contender Gary Duberly (seeded second in the 45-49 age group), with a comfortable 11-6, 11-4, 11-3 victory over Englishman Mark Roberts in the third round. New Zealand's other hopes in the age group - Richard van Rynbach and Kerrin Webster - have lost their third round matches overnight. In the men's 45-49 plate championship Terry Manuatu, Mike Lawton and Keith Littmoden have progressed to the third round with two wins.
In the men's 55-59, Mark Waldin has added two more wins to reach the fourth round. In the men's 60-64 division, three of the strong Kiwi contingent remain in contention, with Wayne Seebeck, Bruce Mellor and Tony Naughton all unbeaten so far.
Some more of the women's matches got underway last night, with many more scheduled for tonight NZ time. Freda Walker ran out a comfortable winner in her opening match over Frances Humphreys of England, 11-7, 11-8, 11-3.
