King and Grayson reign supreme in Cambridge

As expected Joelle King and Campbell Grayson have won the North Island titles in Cambridge

Contrasting victories for Joelle King and Campbell Grayson in their respective finals at the North Island Squash Championships in Cambridge.

The top seeds have taken out the titles as expected, completing the North-South double after winning the South Island Championship titles two weeks ago.

King was a dominant force in the women's event throughout the weekend and produced another superb performance in the final, crushing second seed Kylie Lindsay 11-4, 11-6, 11-2.

However, Grayson's victory was more difficult to come by.  The world number 53 held off a late fight back from second seed Evan Williams, to win 11-6, 11-8, 5-11, 11-8.  Grayson had earlier accounted for unseeded Aucklander Lance Beddoes 11/3 9/11 11/8 11/7 in the semis while Williams earned his place in the title decider with an 11-9, 11-6, 11-1 victory over third seed Paul Coll.
