Two Kiwis Through To World Champs Third Round After Mixed Fortunes

Mixed fortunes for Kiwi squash players in the second round of the World Championships in Chicago.

Joelle King was involved in a marathon match which took 65 minutes to defeat Egypt's 23rd seed Mayar Hany 12-14, 11-2, 15-13, 12-14, 11-3.

King now faces 18th seed Joey Chan from Hong Kong for a place in the quarter-finals. The match is set to be played at 7am tomorrow NZT.

Meanwhile Paul Coll had things a little easier in his victory over Australian Cameron Pilley. Coll took 48 minutes for his 11-6, 11-9, 11-5 win and now plays Egyptian 13th seed Fares Dessouky.

"I'm very happy to get up in three, I'd played him (Pilley) a lot and he's pretty difficult up front. I'm looking forward to getting on to the glass and have seen a couple of photos and it looks absolutely

wicked," said Coll who will play his next match on the glass court at the famous Union Station in Chicago.

Earlier Campbell Grayson lost in a tight straight set game, 10-12, 10-12. 2-11 to Hong Kong's Leo Au.
