Three Out Of Four Kiwis Make World Champs Second Round

Joelle King ranked third in the world had a straight game win over her Egyptian opponent, Heba El Torky 11-6, 11-9, 11-6 in just 24 minutes to set up an encounter with another Egyptian player Mayar Hany the third seed in the second round.

Sixth ranked Paul Coll and Aucklander Campbell Grayson took four games to win their matches. Coll won the first 11-6, then dropped the second game 9-11 before winning the next two sets 11-3, 11-3 for a total game time of 44 minutes. He plays Aussie Cameron Pilley next.

Grayson defeated England’s Nathan Lake in four games 8-11, 11-6, 11-5, 11-4 in 49 minutes. Grayson plays Hong Kong’s Leo Au who has a world ranking of 27 in his next match at 9.45am NZT Monday morning.

Rotorua’s Amanda Landers-Murphy was beaten in straight games by former top ranked Laura Massaro 4-11, 3-11, 8-11 in 21 minutes.
