Kiwis Make It 4 in a Row in Trans-Tasman Junior Test Series
17 Jan 2018The Executive Travel Tans-Tasman Junior Test Series Team makes it 4 titles in a row after claiming the Trans-Tasman Junior Test Series for 2018 at the PCYC Centre in Brisbane.
The Under 13 Girls Sophie Hodges and Ella Lash started the day off in similar fashion as they had on Day 1 with 3-0 wins from Madison Lyon and Courtney Scholtz respectively. In the Under 13 Boys Noah Thomas and Tom Marshall continued their form from the previous day as well taking their wins from Andre Lynn and Benjamin Murray in 3. These wins took New Zealand to a 4-0 lead.
In the Under 15 Girls Jena Gregory reversed her result from the previous day taking out Australian Ella Burge 3-0 whilst Natalie Sayes went down 1-3 to Katie Davies. New Zealand maintained their lead 5-1.
In the Under 15 Boys Tarin Love managed to take his win 3-1 over Oscar Curtis whilst Riley-Jack Vette-Blomquist went down in 3 to Gregory Chan. New Zealand maintained a 4 match lead 6-2.
The Under 17 Girls saw the Australians proving to be too strong for the Kiwis today with Winona-Jo Joyce losing out in 3 to Alex Haydon whilst Georgia Robcke lost out 1-3 to Mackenzie Sleep. This saw the match score close slightly to 6-4 to New Zealand.
In the Under 17 Boys Elijah Thomas took his win over Sam Sergo in 3 whilst Glenn Templeton had to fight hard to get his win in 5 from Abel Jin. This saw New Zealand extend their lead again out to 8-4.
The Under 19 Girls saw Courtney Trail claim her win in 3 over Grace Pattison whilst Nadia Hubbard went down in 4 to Shehana Vithana putting the match scores at 9-5 for New Zealand.
With New Zealand only needing 1 more match to clinch the title the Under 19 Boys saw Keidah Bungard and Sean Dykes take their wins in 4 over Remi Young and Joel Arscott respectively. Brothers Temwa and Lwamba Chileshe were unable to take their wins from Nicholas Calvert and Eugene Heng both going down 1-3. The final match scores of Day 2 being 11-7 to New Zealand and New Zealand reclaiming the title.
