Egypt Claim Win Over Kiwis

The second day of play at the World Women's Team Championships has seen Egypt claim the win over New Zealand.

The top seeds Egypt who boast 3 player inside the Top 4 were always going to be a tough battle for the Kiwis to take out.

First on court in her debut Women's Team Championship was WR#124 Emma Millar playing the WR#8 Omneya Abdel Kawy. Millar managed to hang in with the Egyptian player fighting for every point and claiming some great points, however the Egyptian took the win in 3 (11-9, 11-9, 11-7) in 21mins.

Next on court was Amanda Landers-Murphy the WR#62 taking on the WR#4 Raneem El Welily. Landers-Murphy held in for some long rallies with El Welily. El Welily claimed the win from Landers-Murphy in 3 (11-5, 11-8, 11-2) in 39mins.

The last to the court was WR#59 Megan Craig to take on the WR#1 and World Champion Nour El Sherbini. Craig worked hard and used her fitness well against El Sherbini and looked set to make an upset at one point in the second game, but unfortunately it was not meant to be with Craig going down in 3 (11-6, 12-10, 11-3) in 22mins.

New Zealand take on the 9th seeds India tomorrow in what has been set up to be one of the matches of the event. Check out the World Women's Team Championship page here to see where you can watch the games and follow all the results.
