New Zealand squash No2 Campbell Grayson lost in the first round of the US$115,000 North American Open in Richmond, Virginia last week to 8th seed and world No10 Aslan Iskandar(Malaysia) 6-11, 8-11, 5-11 in 45 minutes. The Aucklander ranked at 57 in the world had earlier won through qualifying, beating 49^th ranked Czech Jan Koukal 10-12, 11-3, 11-9, 11-3 to make the main draw.  Wellington's Martin Knight was defeated in the final round of qualifying by Australian Matthew Karwalski in straight games.

Nadine Cull of Waikato has lost in the qualifying finals of the NSC Series No. 3 event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia this week.  Nadine beat Malaysian Zoe Foo in the first qualifying round 11-8, 10-12, 11-8, 7-11, 12-10, before losing to another Malaysian Celine Yeap 11-4, 11-1, 11-4 in the qualifying final.
