New staff at Squash New Zealand

Squash New Zealand is pleased to announce two new appointments to the Squash New Zealand head office.

Joining Squash New Zealand in the Coaching and Development Director role is Luke Morriss.  Luke comes to Squash New Zealand from Boccia New Zealand, where he worked in the all-encompassing role of Director.  As the sole employee of Boccia New Zealand, Luke oversaw all aspects of the sport's business, including the important areas of club and coach development that will be important focuses within his role with Squash NZ.

Luke's background has also included work as a technical official at the 2012 London Paralympics.  Luke has been employed on a contract, starting on Thursday 12 March, covering Pennie O'Connor whilst she is on maternity leave.New Squash NZ Logo horizontal small

Squash New Zealand will also be welcoming Sam Crawford to the position of Squash Director.  Sam will already be a familiar face to some sections of the squash community, having been active as the Squash Chairperson at Cambridge Racquets Club over the past two years.  This has included organising the 2013 North Island Champs, and the 2015 Under 23 National Champs and B Grade Superchamps.  Sam has just finished studying at Waikato University, where most recently he has completed an Honours degree in Management Studies.  Sam will replace Michael Pittams, and begin work on Monday 2 March.

Squash New Zealand Chief Executive Jim O'Grady was pleased to have been able to make such high calibre appointments to the roles: "We were very pleased with the quality of applicants we had for these positions, which resulted in some very difficult decisions for the appointment panel.  I am very confident that both Luke and Sam will add a great deal to Squash New Zealand, and make positive contributions as we work to grow our sport".
