Ross Norman winds back the years

Ross Norman has wound back the years at the British Open this week, competing in the mens' 55+ age group.

The ex-World Champion received top billing in the draw, and justified this with straight sets wiRoss Norman in actionns throughout the early rounds - requiring no more than 21 minutes in any match on his way to the final.  There he found himself up against 3-4 seeded Welshman Jon Evans, who earlier had accounted for former top player Gawain Briars in the quarter-finals.

Whilst Norman was pushed harder by Evans than he had been in any other match in the tournament, the result was still a comprehensive 9-5 9-3 9-0 (48 minutes) in his favour.

Norman, a very recent addition to the 55+ age group, was persuaded to do some training and throw his hat into the ring for the event.  The result gives him the distinction of being the only squash player ever to win a British Open title and receive a Queen's Honour in the same year.
