King through to quarters at British Open2012 JK at British Open (medium)

Joelle King is safely through to the quarterfinals of the prestigious British Squash Open Championships in Hull.

The world number four has edged past India's Joshana Chinappa in four games in the quarters.  After surviving a third game scare, she stormed back to win the fourth game 11-1 in just five minutes. to win.  The final scoreline read 11-6, 11-7, 8-11, 11-1 in 43 minutes.

King will face English world number five Alison Waters in the last eight at 5am tomorrow (NZT). 

The winner is likely to meet world number one Nicol David in the semis, after David recorded an easy victory over Englishwoman Sarah-Jane Perry in the round of 16.

Speaking in advance of her quarter-final match-up, King said "Against Alison, we’ve got a bit of the same game really, we like to hit the ball short, and take the ball early.  It will be all about who gets in front first and controls the T. I’ll have to play my best squash, and we will see what happens…".
