Seeds on Song at NZJO

A straightforward first day for the top seeds at the New Zealand Junior Squash Open at Royal Oak in Auckland.

Scott Galloway and Ellie Epke made light work of their opening matches of the tournament, both notching up Squash NZ Logovictory in straight games.

After a first up bye in the under 19 boys event, Galloway was far too good for Aucklander Rafa Yam, cruising into the quarterfinals with an 11-7, 11-2, 11-4 win.

Second seed Sion Wiggins was equally impressive in an 11-7, 11-7, 11-3 win over Northland's Finn Trimble.

In the under 19 girls event, Epke racked up a tidy 11-2, 11-3, 11-5 win over Southland's Emily Flett, while second seed Abbie Palmer, fresh from winning the under 17 title at the Australian Junior Open, strolled to an 11-3, 11-4, 11-2 victory over Waikato's Casey Owen.
