Craig through to Main Draw

Canterbury's Megan Craig has won through to the main draw of the Women's World Championships for the first time, defeating Korean Eun Chan Ahn in five sets.Megan Craig vs Amanda S USA 5

The 11-8 6-11 12-14 11-3 11-7 win catapulted the 21 year old Marlburian into the first Women's World Championships main draw of her career, where she has drawn Briton Jenny Duncalf (ranked ninth in the world).

She joins top-ranked Kiwi Joelle King in the main draw.  King, who is in the top half of the draw, will play her first round match against Welsh qualifier Tesni Evans early on Wednesday morning (NZ time).  First round matches in the bottom half of the draw - which includes Craig - will be played early on Thursday morning.

Earlier, Craig received a bye in the first round of qualifying before safely negotiating her way past Australian Sarah Cardwell 7-11 11-9 11-4 11-4 in 48 minutes in the second round.
