2014 National Junior Squads Underway
12 Feb 2014National Junior Squad activity has commenced for the 2014 season, with a busy month of camps coming up.
Kicking things off for the 2014 year was the National Development Squad, which trained in Auckland on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 February. The National Development Squad is made up of 16 players in the under 17 and under 15 age groups, and coached by Robbie Wyatt and Joanne Williams. Photos of the squad training can be found on the Squash New Zealand facebook page. A series of quotes from the players, displaying their enthusiasm and willingness to work hard and learn, can also be found at the bottom of this article.
The next two weekends will see the World Junior Girls and World Junior Boys Squad, respectively, assemble in Auckland for training camps. The World Junior Boys Squad is preparing for the World Junior Championships in Namibia later this year, whilst the World Junior Girls Squad is preparing for the 2015 World Junior Championships (location TBA).
Some of the players involved in these camps also travelled to the Oceania Junior Championships on the Gold Coast in January. Full results and information available here.
