District Boundaries Change

The seven affiliated squash clubs in the "top of the south" are now part of Squash Canterbury.

The Board of Squash NZ has approved a change to the district boundary for Squash Wellington and Squash Canterbury to enable the seven clubs at the top of the South Island to become member clubs of Squash Canterbury.

The seven clubs who were previously members of Squash Wellington are -TOTS

  • Takaka Squash Club
  • Motueka Squash Club
  • Waimea Squash Club
  • Nelson Squash Club
  • Celtic Squash Club
  • Marlborough College Olds Boys Squash Club
  • Marlborough Squash Rackets Club

The change came about through discussions between Squash Canterbury, Squash Wellington and the seven affected clubs, about the best way to support the "top of the south" clubs. All agreed that being part of Squash Canterbury would be the most positive result for all involved.

The two districts and seven clubs have worked together to reach agreement on the change to ensure the clubs are well represented and recognised and continue to receive all the benefits of affiliation.

Stu Camp, Chair of Squash Canterbury, is enthusiastic about the change and sees benefits for the larger region –“…... Having a greater number of clubs around the top of the island could well result in us servicing our other regional clubs better"

On the 7th February 2014 club and player codes switched from a Wellington prefix (WN) to a Canterbury prefix (CB). The number of districts in Squash New Zealand remains unchanged.
