2014 Tournament Calendar

The 2014 season tournament calendar has just gone to print, look out for a copy near you!

The creation of the 2014 tournament calendar has been a long process, involving as much consultation with Districts and Clubs as possible.  For those that aren't familiar, the tournament calendar process works as 2012 Mini Tournament Calendarfollows:

  1. Squash New Zealand sets dates for National Events.
  2. Districts then set dates for District Events.
  3. Districts then provide this information to Clubs, enabling them to select appropriate dates for their events.

Notable features of the 2014 calendar include:

  1. Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in July/August, and various Doubles events in the lead-up to these Games.  Historically New Zealand has performed exceptionally well in the Doubles discipline, with medals won at Commonwealth Games providing the bulk of High Performance Sport NZ's funding of squash's High Performance Programme.
  2. Superchamps later in the season.
  3. Champion of Champions District Finals earlier in the season.
  4. Three Professional Squash Association (PSA) tour events in June.

The calendar is currently being printed, to be ready for this weekend's Squash New Zealand Annual General Meeting.  Fold-out pocket calendars will be distributed to Districts at the AGM, whilst A1 wall posters will be posted to Clubs later in 2013.

In the meantime, PDF versions of the calendar can be accessed here:
