World Junior Coaches Announced

Following the recent recruitment advertisement, two World Junior Coaches have been appointed for next year.

Squash New Zealand is delighted to announce that Joanne Williams (Cambridge) and Jo WilliamsRobbie Wyatt (Tauranga) have been appointed as World Junior Girls and World Junior Boys Coach respectively.  Squash New Zealand is lucky to have such well-qualified coaches amongst its ranks, and the enthusiasm and passion they have for coaching will surely stand junior squash in New Zealand in good stead for the future.

The roles represent a rationalisation of existing coaching work within the Junior High Performance Programme.  A variety of coaches have erstwhile been engaged to assist with the delivery of Junior High Performance Programme Squads, resulting in a number of coaches being engaged for 2-3 days per year.

The new World Junior Coaching roles will provide a greater degree of consistency to the programme, and provide opportunities for the two successful coaches to show greater leadership throughout the year.

Williams, the World Junior Girls Coach, will take joint responsibility for the National Development Squad that feeds into the World Junior Girls Squad, of which she will be the Head Coach.  Wyatt will also assume joint control of the National Development Squad, and act as the permanent Assistant Coach for the World Junior Boys Squad.  Squash New Zealand High Performance Coach Paul Hornsby will continue to act as Head Coach of the World Junior Boys Squad, and an Assistant Coach at World Junior Girls Squad camps.  Various other High Performance Coaches will continue to be engaged throughout the year to provide additional support at camps, and ensure development opportunities are available to coaches around the country.Robbie Wyatt

Squash New Zealand would like to congratulate Joanne Williams and Robbie Wyatt for their successful applications for the roles.

The players to be coached by Williams and Wyatt in the 2014 Junior High Performance Programme squads have been selected.  Once all players have accepted their places in these squads, they will be announced publicly.
