King through to semis in Pennsylvania

A big win for New Zealand squash star Joelle King at the prestigious US Open Champions2012 Matamata Open JK v Alison Waterships in Pennsylvania.

The fifth seeded Kiwi is through to the semifinals for the second year in a row, after a straight games victory over English world number four Alison Waters.

Little separated the two players in the opening game, with King edging it 12-10, but the world number five then took the control of the match to complete a comprehensive 12-10, 11-2, 11-3 victory.  The win is expected to propel King above Waters to a career high number four in the world when the new WSA rankings are released at the beginning of next month.

King will now face world number one Nicol David in a repeat of last year's epic encounter which the Malaysian won in five games.  David is once again through to the last four after a straight games win over Ireland's Madeline Perry.
