Auckland, BOP join Wellington in Finals

Wellington has reached both Inter District Teams Event finals, and will play BOP in the boys and Auckland in the girls.

The powerful Auckland girls team still has not dropped a set en route to the final of the National Inter District Teams Event, adding impressive wins over Waikato and Bay of Plenty yesterday.  They will be joined in the final by second seeds Wellington, who confirmed their place in the decider with a 3/1 win over third seeds Central.

A surprise in the boys event, with Bay of Plenty joining top seeds Wellington in the final.  Seeded third, Bay of Plenty defeated second seeded Auckland 3/1 to progress to the title match.  Wellington defeated Canterbury 3/1 to confirm their place in the decider.

Both finals are a repeat of last year's National Inter District Teams Event in Palmerston North.  Thanks to their presence in both teams event finals, Wellington is a front-runner to win the Gifford Cup (awarded to the best-performing combined District).
