Sayes Shines at Australian Junior Open Natalie Sayes U13 Champion Resized

Natalie Sayes has claimed another International title, this year she has claimed the U13 Australian Junior Open title a year after she claimed the U11 title.

Sayes was seed 5/8 in the division. In her first game she made light work of her Australian opponent Sydney Johnson in just 14minutes. Next up she faced the 2nd seed Leandra Yu-Ming Sze of Hong Kong. Sayes never looked concerned winning in 12 minutes. Says continued to show her strength in the semi-final and took out Australia's 3rd seed Erin Classen in 3. The final saw Sayes have to overcome the top seed Jemma Besant. Besant claimed the first 2 games in hard fought battles but Sayes showed her composure and came out to fight her way to win the title in 5 games.

The Australian Junior Open saw 3 other kiwis competing in the Under 19 division, Michael Shelton-Agar, Sam Sayes and Scott Galloway. Sayes and Shelton-Agar both had first round wins and then tough losses in the second round which saw them drop out of the championship draw. Galloway however showed dominance on the court and fought hard to claim wins over his Australian counterparts beating Corey Michael Sergeant in the first round, Damon McMillan (5/8) in the second round and then overcoming the third seed Alex Oswald in the semi-finals. Galloway however was not able to continue this winning streak losing to Alex Eustace the number 1 seed in a hard fought 4.
