Day 2 of World Junior ChampionshipsSquash Netherlands

Day 2 produced some more great results on the courts form the kiwi players competing in the Netherlands.

First on today were Ellie and Abbie. Abbie started slowly but performed well against Choi Uen Shan of Hong Kong, but unfortunately she couldn't get the win. Uen Shan is now in the last 8.

Ellie beat the top Japanese junior Satomi Watanabe in 3 sets displaying some of the best squash she has produced this year.

Kaitlyn was next up against the top seed Habbiba Mohamed of Egypt and women's world no 17. After Kaitlyn's convincing first round win she stepped up to take on Habiba Mohamed, she stunned the gallery with her determination, retrieving many seemingly impossible shots as well as playing some very tight winning drops at the front. Mohamed eventually taking the win in 3.

Ellie was up again next against Nouran Gohar the second seed and women's world number 15 gunning for a place in the last 8. Ellie played the match of her life (so far) losing in a close 4 sets. She displayed a lot of patience by staying in the rally's, reducing her error rate, retrieving seemingly ungetable shots and matching Gohar's pace. Epke eventually went down in a hard fought 4.

Luke Jones was happy with his effort against his higher ranked opponent Youssef Ibrahim Abdallah of Egypt almost taking a game off him in the first.

Next up was Juee who has had the toughest of draws of the girls and lost to the number 1 Dutch player Elena Wagenmans. Juee is playing good squash but against some very tough opposition.

Last on for the day was Lauren Clarke who after being down 2/0 to a tricky Faith Sithole from South Africa fought back to win in 5.

Except for Ellie all the kiwis are playing again tomorrow and are flying the flag well.
