Squash NZ Welcomes NZSSSA

Squash NZ has welcomed the New Zealand Secondary Schools Squash Association as an Associate Member.

Becoming an affiliated 'Associate Member' of Squash New Zealand will not fundamentally alter what the New Zealand Secondary Schools Squash Association (NZSSSA) does on a day to day basis, but will improve NZSSSA's ability to deliver squash, and continue the positive recent trend of greater cooperation between NZSSSA and Squash New Zealand (SNZ).

Concurrent to the announcement of NZSSSA as an Associate Member has been the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between NZSSSA and SNZ.  The intended benefits of Associate Membership include:

• NZSSSA able to apply to trusts for grant funding, increasing its budget certainty and hopefully enabling it to expand.
• NZSSSA able to communicate more effectively with its members using iSquash.
• Greater event support from SNZ.

These benefits are in addition to recent initiatives to strengthen the relationship between NZSSSA and SNZ, and improve our ability to attract and cater to secondary school athletes, and encourage the growth of squash in secondary schools.  The most notable of these was the introduction of the Secondary School Grading Scheme in 2013, allowing Secondary School players to be placed on the grading list, and results from Secondary School events to be submitted to iSquash.

Squash New Zealand welcomes the Associate Membership of NZSSSA, and looks forward to continued cooperation between the two parties for the benefit and growth of secondary school squash.
