Our Purpose

Every week, in more than 300 clubs and other facilities with a squash court across New Zealand, tens of thousands of people are inspired to play squash or experience our sport. With squash you’re not just playing, you’re joining something bigger than yourself – a movement. You’ll fall in love with the game and it will change your life. You’ll lunge, you’ll sweat, you’ll shout and you’ll leave feeling fantastic. The next day you’ll come back and do it all again.

About us

Our culture 

The New Zealand squash family is a community of like-minded people spread throughout the country from Kaitaia to Bluff, Gisborne to Hokitika and everywhere in between. Although we are separated by geography, religion, ethnicity and ability, we are united in our love for the game of squash.

Our values 

You’ll get a sense of what our shared values are when you step on court. It’s in the atmosphere inside every squash facility and it’s in the buzz you have when you’ve finished a match.

Our people 

Behind the culture and many achievements of our game are our people - who have all subscribed to playing the world's healthiest sport. We call ourselves 'squashies' and it means we have fallen in love with squash. Because we’re so passionate about the game, we're also committed to helping more people fall in love with squash so they will choose to play it more often and with greater success.

Squash New Zealand Constitution

We are an incorporated society, registered with the Department of Internal Affairs and are governed by the SNZ Constitution (updated March 2024).

Why are we here?

Our purpose is simple: to lead, develop and promote squash throughout the country; and strive to work in a unified manner with our Districts  and Clubs  to deliver and grow the game at all levels.

Where are we?

We’re everywhere. In local clubs, leisure and recreation centres, community halls, military camps, schools, universities and resorts in every corner of the country. People try it, play it and love it because of us. We inspire a life long love of squash, a joy of movement and leading healthy lives.

Where are we going? 

We have huge ambitions for the future. Our 2021-24 Strategic Direction We are Squash New Zealand – Poipātū Aotearoa  is what guides us to achieve our ultimate vision of ‘New Zealanders enjoying squash from grassroots to excelling on the world stage’. It defines the values we consider important, where we are going and how we will get there. 

We also work closely with other countries through our affiliations to our regional body Oceania Squash and the World Squash Federation , who are the international authority for the game throughout the world and are responsible for the rules of the game.
