Always More Superchamps Results

Superchamps National Finals around the country are underway, check here for resuSuperchamps logolts as they arrive.

94 teams spent Tuesday or Wednesday packed in cars and planes to get themselves to the National Finals.  This is a big increase on the number of teams (82) that travelled to nationals last year, and is the highest since 2001.

As results are sent through from the host clubs we will update them here.  The very best of luck to all teams.

F Grades: Whakatane Squash Club

Day One

Day one of the F grade Superchamps in Whakatane began with teams making their mark early in the important first round of pool play.

For the men, home team Whakatane had a 4-1 win over Remuera, with Stephen Vierboom standing out. Ohakune were too good for Devoy Squash, winning 5-0. Havelock beat Hastings 4-1 and Tararua wrapped up round one with a 4-1 win over Franklin.

The womens draw was also fiercely contested as Edgecumbe beat Whangarei 4-1. Eden-Epsom routed Taupo 5-0, Hastings fought to a 3-2 win over Tararua and Gisborne also had a tight match, beating Henderson 3-2.

Day Two

The rain came down in the sunshine capital on Thursday but it didn't stop the F graders from shining on the court.

Whakatane continued their unbeaten run through pool play, beating Ohakune 4-1. Also unbeaten are Havelock, who beat Franklin 4-1, and Tararua, also winning 4-1 against Hastings.

The final round of pool play is is being played this morning.

In the final round of womens pool play, Edgecumbe beat Taupo 5-0 while Eden Epsom battled to a 3-2 win over Whangarei. Hastings beat Gisborne 4-1 and Henderson edged Tararua 3-2.

Womens semi-finals are being played this afternoon as Edgecumbe take on Henderson and Hastings face Eden Epsom.

Day Three

It all comes down to tomorrow’s final for four teams at the F grade Super Champs in Whakatane. After an entertaining day of semi-finals, the finals will cap off what has been an exciting tournament.

In the mens competition, Whakatane were 4-1 winners over Havelock today and they will play Remuera in tomorrow’s final as they beat Tararua 4-1 this evening.

In other crossover matches Ohakune beat Hastings 3-2 and Franklin beat Devoy 5-0.

Undefeated Edgecumbe continued their march through the womens competition, beating Henderson 4-1 to book their spot in the final.

Hastings will be their opponents after a 3-2 battle with Eden Epsom. Other womens crossover matches had Gisborne beat Whangarei 4-1 while Tararua were 3-2 winners over Taupo.
