Teams Event Underway

The Senior National Inter District Teams Event has commenced in Auckland, with the seeds through to the semis.

The top four seeds have all safely negotiated the first round of the Senior Nationals Inter District Teams Event at Royal Oak Racquets Club to progress to the semi-finals.  All of the seeded teams showed their class in winning 4/0 in the first round, to effectively sort the the competition into two sections.

In the Mens', top seeds Auckland produced a victory over Northland, and will face Bay of Plenty in the semi-finals.  Canterbury and Central eased past Waikato and Eastern respectively, and will also meet in the semi-finals tonight.

Over on the womens' side, Auckland beat erstwhile top seeds Waikato who, shorn of their top two players Joelle King and Kylie Lindsay to back injuries, had dropped to eighth seeds.  Auckland will play Canterbury in the first semi-final after the Cantabs beat their Otago neighbours in the first round.  The other semi-final will feature Bay of Plenty and Northland.
