Millar Pulls off Quarterfinal Upset
3 Aug 2013Emma Millar has pulled off the surprise result of the quarterfinals at the National Champs at Royal Oak.
Millar, seeded seventh, beat second seed Kylie Lindsay in a gruelling five game encounter 11-9 5-11 7-11 11-7 11-7 to book a semi-final place with Amanda Landers-Murphy. Landers-Murphy was also pushed hard in her quarter-final by Bay of Plenty team mate Jo Shanks, eventually winning 11-8 11-1 10-12 11-9.
No suprises elsewhere, with Joelle King and Megan Craig, and all of the top four men's seeds, winning through to the semi-finals. The semis will be played at Royal Oak Racquets Club from 5pm tonight.
