Coaching Stalwart Awarded Lifetime Achievement

Pat Barwick, Squash Canterbury Board member and Squash NZ Coaching Advisory Panel Member has been recognised at the top of sport, winning a Lifetime Achievement Award at the NZ Sport and Recreation Awards.

Squash NZ are very lucky to have Pat as a consultant as part of our National Coaching Framework, with her wealth of experience in administration and coaching, having coached various hockey teams at different levels, including the New Zealand women’s team at the Barcelona Olympics. Squash Canterbury also benefit from Pat's lifetime of involvement in sport, with Pat a valued Board member.

Pat was invited to present an award at the sector awards, held in Wellington on Monday night and was visibly shocked when she won the award.

Squash NZ were finalists in the same awards in the category of Innovation Excellence for iSquash - a comprehensive online platform to administer squash, manage membership, open the doors, reduce barriers to participation, and grow the game. It was the second consecutive year that Squash NZ was shortlisted as a finalist in the award but this year Bike NZ took out the prize for their sport science based high performance innovations.

Squash NZ would like to congratulate Pat and thank her for the time and effort that she has dedicated to sport, and squash, over her lifetime.
