Debbie Dunbar Appointed Squash NZ Junior Selector

Squash NZ is pleased to announce the appointment of Debbie Dunbar as a Junior Selector for the High-Performance Program. Debbie will work alongside the High-Performance Manager Shelley Kitchen and fellow junior selectors Robbie Wyatt, Graeme Randolph and Adam Odering in the delivery of the Program as intended to achieve the highest standards and best practice.


Selectors’ Vision:

“To select teams that will perform to the best of their ability, represent New Zealand with pride, and have the ability to achieve Squash New Zealand’s High-Performance goals.”


The criteria for selecting teams is established by Squash New Zealand and are guided by the Strategic Initiatives as stated in the Squash New Zealand Strategic Plan. The Selectors are required to select all teams in accordance with the selection criteria determined by Squash New Zealand. The strategic outcome of most importance is: International Success - the high performance programme achieves podium success at pinnacle events.


Debbie has been involved in our sport for many years, as a representative and club player at junior, senior and masters levels. She has also fulfilled a number of volunteer roles at club committee level and is a former senior and junior selector for Squash Wellington. To the role of selector, Debbie brings not only her knowledge of squash which has been developed over many years, but also her skills in clear, open and honest communication and a strong belief in transparent processes.


Debbie is looking forward to being a part of selection processes that ensure our high performance athletes have the best possible opportunities to develop and perform on the world stage.


Debbie grew up in Napier, playing squash for the then Hawkes Bay/Gisborne District (now Eastern), before representing Central Districts and recently Wellington. Debbie lives in Wellington with her husband Steve and their two children, working as a family lawyer.
