The fifth seed beat Hayley Hughes (fourth seed) of Eden Epsom in four sets, and will play Ellie Epke for a spot in the final.
Mt. Maunganui's James Cooper caused Jonny Barnett a scare in the boys' quarterfinals, pushing the top seed to five sets. After splitting the first four sets evenly, Barnett's class eventually shone through, taking the fifth set comfortably 11-3. The remaining quarterfinals went as expected, with the higher seeded players winning in straight sets. The semi-final matches will be played between Jonny Barnett (1) vs. Ben Grindrod (5), and Zac Millar (2) vs Todd Redman (3).
