Galloway Australian Junior Open Under 15 Champion

Wellington's Scott Galloway has taken out the under 15 title at the Australian Junior Open in Canberra played over Easter weekend.

Top-seeded Galloway, of the Mitchell Park Squash Club did not drop a set on his way to the final, beating three Australians after receiving a bye in the first round.  In the final he emerged victorious after a five set battle with Jesse Keegan of New South Wales (11-8, 10-12, 11-3, 7-11, 11-7).

Leading other strong results from Kiwis was Ellie Epke, of the Harcourts Eden Epsom club in Auckland.  Ellie finished runner-up in the girls' under 19 division, despite only turning 14 a few months ago!  As third seed, Ellie pulled off a good five-set win over the second seed in the semifinals, before going down in straight sets to Tamika Saxby (ranked 66 in the world) in the final.

Other Kiwis to excel included Juee Bhide, Paris Dalrymple-Mortleman and Jason Van Der Walt.  Juee, also of the Eden Epsom club, finished third in the girls' under 15 division, while Paris and Jason (both from the Kapiti club in Wellington) finished fourth and sixth in the girls' and boys' under 17 divisions respectively.

Squash New Zealand would like to congratulate the players on their outstanding results.
