Final Qualifying Results from NZ Classic
5 Sep 2013Two New Zealanders have made it through qualifying to the main draw of the Fitzherbert Rowe Lawyers International Squash Classic tonight at SquashGym, Palmerston North.
Ben Grindrod defeated Polish visitor Wojtek Nowisz in straight sets to book a first round clash with un seeded Australian Justin Beard tomorrow night. New Zealand’s Chris Lloyd had a harder road through qualifying needing to defeat fellow New Zealander Zac Millar in five sets. Lloyd has drawn a tough first round match against Palmerston North based Kashif Shuja. These results mean seven New Zealander’s will fill positions in the final sixteen.
Adrian Leanza (USA) and Pablo Rawden (England) will be pleased that their trek from the other side of the
world has resulted in main draw positions with both having three set wins.
The first round gets underway at 5.30pm tomorrow (Thursday 5 Sept) night.
