18 DAYS TO GO …..

We’re all looking forward to being part of the action at the World Junior Squash Championships which kick off in just 18 days with the Opening Ceremony at Baycourt and we’ve got some great acts lined up to kick-start the players Kiwi experience.

Many clubbies have signed up to volunteer and our hosting clubs have been undergoing refurbishments in readiness.  The Clubs are looking fantastic and we are sure our members will be greeting our international visitors in great Kiwi style.  Everyone has been working hard to ensure the ultimate experience, on and off the court.

Teams:  India, Malaysia, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand.

Tuesday / Thursday nights at Te Puke Squash, from 5.30pm

Wednesday / Friday at Mount Squash, from 5.30pm

HAVE A SPARE BED OR TWO??  HOSTS WANTED

We’re after some host families please to billet some of our international players 25-30 July.  Can you help?  Entails hosting players in your homes and offering some good ol’ Kiwi hospitality.   Players may be required to be transported to Devoy Squash or QEYC, or you may be within walking distance of these venues. If you want to provide breakfast/dinner for the athletes then that is great, but not a requirement.

Phone Deb Boyd-Collins, Team Liaison 021-781-063.

MEMBER ACCESS TO COURTS

This is a fantastic event as well as being a great profile for our Clubs and our sport.  There will be plenty of action and plenty of people, but we do acknowledge there will be some disruption for members during this time.   Court access for Club members will be limited during the Championships, particularly for Devoy Squash members. We are currently working on the court allocations and will notify the Club managers shortly of availability for members.  Otumoetai College has kindly offered their court for usage during the Championships which is greatly appreciated.  This will be made available to members to utilise.
