Ellie Epke wins Consolation Plate in Poland

A Grade Ladies' Champ Ellie Epke (small)After losing out in the main draw and the plate, Ellie and team mates Abbie Palmer and Hayley Hughes found themselves in the consolation plate draw. After easy first matches in which none of them lost more than 3 points in a game they all proceeded to the quarter finals of the consolation plate. Despite some close games they all managed to reach the semi finals, which unfortunately paired up Abbie and Hayley for a clash. Even though she dropped the first game to her team mate, Abbie managed to dig deep and make it into the final after an 8-11 11-6 11-4 11-3 victory. In similar fashion Ellie was up against Indian Urwashi Joshi and after losing the first game managed to win 8-11 11-8 11-8 11-7 to make it an all New Zealand match in the final between Ellie and Abbie. After Abbie won the first game and narrowly lost the second it looked like a close final however in the third Ellie pulled away and eventually won 10-12 12-10 11-2 11-7.
