First round results from Junior Girls in Poland

The girls got under way at the World Junior Championships yesterday. With Ellie Epke given a bye in the first round that left the 3 other girls to battle it out to make the second round. Up first was Hayley Hughes in her debut match against the Indian Sachika Ingale, unfortunately she went down in 3 sets, 11-6 11-3 11-7. Up next was Abbie Palmer against Canadian Dileas Macgowan, despite getting a game, Abbie lost 11-7 11-4 8-11 11-6. Finally Becky Barnet took to the court against the Polish number 1 Natalia Ryfa winning in 3, 11-6 11-4 11-9 despite suffering a injury from her opponent, rest assured Becky has recovered from the tiny scrape and will make the 2nd round along with Ellie.

Ellie will take on American Olivia Fiechter at 4pm local time while Becky is on at 4.45pm against the Finnish Emilia Soini.
