van der Salm chasing double in Oamaru
12 Jul 2013Chris van der Salm will chase a rare double at the South Island Junior Championships in Oamaru this weekend.
The top seed has the chance to add the Under 19 Boys title to the South Island Senior Championship crown he secured earlier this year. van der Salm will look to make the most of his home court advantage, but standing in his way are Cantabrian Jackson Beresford, with Chris Williams from Midlands and Wellingtonian Chris Collins rounding out the top four.
Meanwhile, Wellington's Sophie O'Connell is favoured to win the Under 19 Girls title, although Southlander Emily Flett will have her eye on an upset in the final.
Canterbury's Kelsi Carrick and Otago's Laura Rogers are the third and fourth seeds respectively.
The tournament gets underway on Saturday and runs through until Monday. The draws are available on the South Island Junior Age Group Championships page of our website.
