A Clean Sweep in Grafton

The New Zealand Secondary Schools representative team returned undefeated from Australia this morning.

After three continuous days of squash - including six rounds of singles and two rounds of doubles - the New Zealand Secondary Schools team returned early this morning to Auckland as the inaugural Trans-Tasman Secondary Schools Champions. Management pronounced the tour a huge success with all games being competitive despite New Zealand's dominance. “The hospitality of our hosts who billeted all players and entertained management added to this superb event.”

The Queensland versus New South Wales series has over 100 years of history, and has been played at both a Junior and Senior level.  New Zealand joining for the first time this year to create a tri-series; next year it is also planned to introduce a Junior team of Year 9 and 10 students from New Zealand.

Victoria has also showed interest and it is hoped that they will join the series in 2014. It is also hoped for next year that on the third day of competition a selected side from the Australian states will play against the New Zealand team.
