Youth Olympics Squash Showcase

Our two selected showcase players Matthew Lucente and Kaitlyn Watts and their mentor and ambassador, Ben Grindrod are travelling to Buenos Aires this week for the Youth Olympics squash showcase between 7th and 12th October.

This showcase will mark the first time that squash has been included on an Olympic programme with the aim of getting squash one step closer to being included in either the 2024 Paris or 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympic Games.

The latest update from Buenos Aires last week stated that the show court was almost completed and includes an interactive front wall. Although the games played won’t be scored as it isn’t an official tournament as such, both Kaitlyn and Matthew have some great players in their pools and we’re sure competition will be fierce. Matthew will be playing Mostafa Asal (Egypt) and Chung Yat Long (Hong Kong) among others and Kaitlyn’s pool of 7 includes Cristina Tartarone (Italy) and Jana Shiha (Egypt) who she will face in her 6 minute show case matches.

We’re hoping to bring you updates and photos of the action on the ground once the showcase gets underway on Sunday.

Best of luck to Kaitlyn, Matthew and Ben. We’re already so proud of you!
