Williams Into Semifinal

New Zealand Commonwealth Games team member, Evan Williams has made it through to the semifinals of the US$5,000 Shepparton International in Australia after a couple of easy contests.

The second seed from Wellington beat South African Ruan Olivier in his opening match 11-1, 11-5, 11-7 and then accounted for Abdelrahman Abdelkhalek (Egypt) in straight games in the quarters 11-1, 11-4, 11-7.

In the semis Williams will clash with Japanese seventh seed Naoki Hayashi who had earlier defeated Kiwi Sion Wiggin 11-7, 8-11, 11-1, 11-8.

The third Kiwi in the tournament, Scott Galloway was beaten in his second round match by Aussie Rohan Toole 5-111, 6-11, 11-13.

If Williams wins his semfiinal he would play the winner of the all-Swiss affair between top seed Dimitri Steinmann and eighth seed Robin Gadoa.
