Top Seeds Make Final of New Zealand Senior Nationals Teams

The top 2 seeds have made their way to the final in both the Men’s and the Women’s draws with very different paths to the finals.

In the Men’s draw the second seeds Auckland and the third seeds Bay of Plenty went match for match in their tie with both teams taking two matches each it was sent back to games to determine the winner. It was Auckland that scraped through with the win taking their spot in the final winning 7 games to 6. The top seeds Wellington were pushed to the limit by the fifth seeds Canterbury. With both teams winning two matches each and the game score being tied on 7 games each it was sent back to points and in a rare chance both teams were tied on 115 points each. The rules in this situation send it to a drawing of lots and in this case it was Wellington that were drawn out and took their spot in the final.

The Women’s draw saw the top seeds Bay of Plenty looking strong in their win over the fifth seeds Wellington with Bay of Plenty winning 4-0. The second seeds Auckland were pushed by the third seeds Central with both teams managing to claim a win 2-2. On games countback it was Auckland who came out on top 7-6 claiming their place in the final.
