Finalists of South Island Age Groups Decided

The finalists of the various age groups for the 2017 South Island Age Groups being held at the Oamaru Squash and Badminton club have been decided with upsets limited across the draws.

In the Under 19 Girls top seed Emma Cormack and second seed Winona-Jo Joyce have won all of their pool play matches and the winner of their match on Monday will determine the Under 19 champion. In the Boys Under 19 it was a similar situation for top seed Keidah Bungard and second seed Caleb Madden who will do battle to determine who tops their pool and takes the title home.

The Under 17 boys will see top seed Elijah Thomas take on second seed Kobe Fleming with both players aiming to claim this title. In the Under 17 Girls final Winona-Jo Joyce the top seed will take on Southland’s Anna O’Connor in the final.

The Under 15 Girls will see Natalie Sayes the top seed take on second seed Martha Toghill in their final round of pool play to determine the winner. The Under 15 boys sees top seed Elijah Thomas taking on third seed Solomon Lewis after Lewis took his win from second seed Nathan Briggs in three to make the final.

Top seed Natalie Sayes will also be competing in the Under 13 Girls event where she is set to take on second seed Rakairoa Joyce to bring the title north. Top seed Noah Thomas will be looking to seal his first title when he takes on second seed Tom Marshall in the final.

Top seed Neve Cowley looks set claim the Under 11 Girls title but she will need to get past second seed Grace Brensell in their match to top pool play. In the Under 11 Boys top seed Oliver Dunbar looked relatively comfortable on his way to the final claiming all his wins in 3. Dunbar will take on second seed Reece Holmes who took out reigning Under 11 Oceania Junior Champion Matthew Growcott.
