Finalists Decided For Gibson O’Connor North Shore Open and PSA

The finalists of the Gibson O’Connor North Shore Open and PSA have been decided after some hard-fought semi-finals.

The first Women's semi-final match saw Kiwi Amanda Landers-Murphy take on Jemyca Aribado of the Philippines. Landers-Murphy came out determined to make the final and bought only her best. Aribado wasn't able to match Landers-Murphy as she claimed the match in 3 (11-5, 11-3, 11-5).

The first Men's semi-final saw an exceptional battle between Evan Williams of New Zealand and Valentino Bong of Malaysia. Williams was able to edge Bong 11-5 in the first, but Bong countered claiming the second 11-6. Williams got back into the lead as he claimed the third 11-4 but Bong made sure to keep himself in the match and levelled the score winning the fourth 11-7. Both players threw everything into the final game and it was Williams drops and accuracy that got him across the line winning the fifth 11-5.

The last women's semi-final saw the first Trans-Tasman battle between Jess Turnbull of Australia and Megan Craig of New Zealand. Craig retrieved some excellent shots and both players were sure to put everything on the line. It was Craig's day on court though as she took her win in 3 (11-7, 11-8, 11-5).

The last men's semi-final saw Australian Josh Larkin take on New Zealand’s Ben Grindrod. Grindrod worked well in the first game taking the win 11-9. Larkin found his momentum in the second though pushing hard to claim the game 11-7. Larkin asserted his dominance in the third game and Grindrod couldn't match the intensity with Larkin claiming the game 11-3. Larkin maintained his composure claiming the fourth 11-2 and his place in the final.
